Composite Fence Installation: Step-by-Step Plan & Tips
Installing a composite fence yourself? With this clear step-by-step plan and practical tips, you can effortlessly install a sleek and durable result.
At WPC Solutions we offer two popular systems: the modular fence system with loose planks that are slid into aluminum posts, and the Topline fence , consisting of complete panels of 180x180 cm. Both systems are designed for easy and quick assembly, suitable for both do-it-yourselfers and professionals.
Assembly of the modular fence
The modular system consists of stackable composite fence planks of 180 cm wide, which are slid into aluminium garden posts with slots via a tongue and groove system. No cross beams are required.
Step 1: Preparation & measuring
- Determine the route of the fence and stretch a straight line between the start and end points.
- Mark the center of each post every 183 cm.
Step 2: Digging holes & placing posts
- Dig a hole 80 to 90 cm deep and at least 20 cm wide for each post.
- Place the aluminum garden post level in the hole.
- Preferably use the sand-water-sand method or our special pile-fixed filler. These methods ensure a firm anchoring without the aluminium being affected, as can happen with traditional concrete.
- Allow everything to harden thoroughly before proceeding with assembly.
Tip: Use a brace or adjustment strap to keep the posts straight while they harden.
Step 3: Installing fence planks
- Slide the first plank horizontally into the slots of the posts, just above ground level or a concrete edge.
- Continue stacking the next planks using the tongue and groove system .
- Check regularly that the panels fit properly and are level.
Please note: In warm weather, leave a few millimeters of space for expansion.
Step 4: Finishing
- Place a U-profile or cover strip on top of the fence for a neat top.
- Finish the sides with end strips or corner profiles if desired.
Assembly of the Topline fence
The Topline fence consists of prefabricated fence parts of 180x180 cm that are mounted between garden posts with a wooden core . These fences are not stacked, but hung in one piece with the supplied T-set suspension brackets .
Assembly in steps:
- Dig a hole 80 to 90 cm deep and at least 20 cm wide for each post.
- Place the aluminum garden post level in the hole.
- Preferably use the sand-water-sand method or our special pile-fixed filler. These methods ensure a firm anchoring without the aluminium being affected, as can happen with traditional concrete.
- Allow everything to harden thoroughly before proceeding with assembly.
- Remove the plastic caps from the sides and insert 3 T-brackets per side.
- Lift the fence section with 2 people and position the fence section between the garden posts, now attach the fence to the garden posts using the supplied screws.
Tip: Check that the panel is level before you permanently secure it.
